The History Behind The Trellis Room

Inside the Historic Battle House Hotel in downtown Mobile, the Trellis Room presents an Italian restaurant spotlighting coastal flavor of Mobile and delivering hospitality with heart and soul. The menu features hand-made pasta, scratch-made sauces, and classic Italian dishes from the Chef's family recipes. Our Culinary team thoughtfully sources ingredients to prepare simply and elegantly. Our extensive wine list pairs perfectly with the meal and provokes you to discover something new. Our house-made desserts and a cordial is the perfect way to finish this memorable experience.

Tiffany Stained Glass Ceiling

The Tiffany stained-glass ceiling of the Trellis Room features original Magnolias dating back to the 1908 installation, except a few fixed pieces. The stained-glass underwent extensive repairs during the hotel restoration from 2004-2007 and a protective glass structure on the roof now protects it from the elements. In the 1950's the Trellis Room was divided into two floors to create additional meeting space. As part of the restoration, the dividing floor was removed and the space was opened up to two floors, as it was in 1908. The architectural treatments in the Trellis Room are based on the original designs.

Fabulous! The cocktail was unexpectedly good! The grilled romaine salad to die for! Our main courses were especially tasty! And the desert was the perfect end to the meal!  We're going back for all our special Italian favorites!

Wonderful Italian Cuisine with attentive service. Nice downtown location with Valet (and validated) parking. Our server knew the menu well and was very attentive. Reasonably quiet even though full, glad we did reservations. The food was all hot when it arrived and was very well prepared. An enjoyable meal. Interesting architecture and stained glass in the room.

Lovely experience!! We visited on a recent Friday night while passing through Mobile en route to Florida and enjoyed a very delicious meal of appetizers and salads with a lovely Tuscan house red. Our waiter was so helpful and accommodating, and the chef brought out his expertly crafted and delicate lamb and pork meatballs in a light, flavorful tomato sauce. My husband enjoyed a shrimp appetizer and both of our salads - the house green with a delicious vinaigrette, and the Caprese - were perfect. I was genuinely touched by how dedicated and professional the staff were and hope others get to appreciate this gem!
